Be aware. The last section of this between Wilberclough and the junction with the Cat 'n'Fiddle is now covered with average speed camera's.

I rode this one tonight but the last few mile onto the Cat and Fiddle road was shut so I had to take a diversion left off towards Wildboarclough.
Its twisty and winding and nowhere near as open as the C & F. Good road, great scenery needs care. It was very quiet with hardly any cars tonight.

I used to ride this road regularly at speed without encountering hazards other than the usual sheep and car drivers. However since my partner started work at a location on this road 1 mile up from Boseley traffic lights towards Buxton, we have become more mindful of its dangers.

My partner now regularly drives an articulated lorry along this road, often taking up the middle of the road to negotiate the many bends. He has encountered a few riders also taking the middle line on blind bends towards him with some very near misses. He has also witnessed public utility vehicles parked near blind bends.

Given the above I consider this road to be more hazardous than the cat and fiddle. Its a good one though so enjoy!

Sad to say that the Council nimbys have seen fit to put a 50mph speed limit on this road all the way from Buxton to Bosley crossroads.

I use this regularly going Buxton - Congleton and enjoy it every time... well worth trying it but beware on cool days as some of the shaded bends hold the damp for quite some time. The road needs to be respected but it never fails to raise a smile.....

I've only been riding since March this year and I thought I'd try the Cat and Fiddle, but a mate told me to turn off and head towards Congleton after. Wow, I thought the Cat was bendy, this road has all the blind bends but with very steep inclines as well. I found it a very involving ride although it was a lot quieter than the Cat so I didn't feel the pressure of superbikes up my arse and enjoyed it so much more

Try it with the A523/A537 as a triangular run-out. Mind those sheep.

I also tend to agree with the second reveiw but would add a few extra points for any of you that may decide to ride this road. We normally ride this road in the summer between 7-9pm so its quiet anyway but make sure you give it some respect, get to know it first as some of it takes you by suprise, adversed cambers, 90 degree bends and it quite narrow. We call it the "Roller Coast" its up and down all the way, and if you like getting airbourne this is one for you.In parts its hard to keep the front wheel on the deck. I dont ride this road too often as it really can get tricky if you keep pushing it. If you ride it back from Buxton to Congleton is nothing like the first run so take note, down hill 100% concentration required as always. hope you enjoy it.

Disagree about it being like the cat and fiddle, this one doesn't get nearly as much police presence and is a much more challenging road because of the blind crests, dips and swoops. I'd take this one over the cat any day, fortunately the obsession with the cat means this one has less traffic on it. Watch for the stray sheep towards the Buxton end.

Quite a similar sort of road to the Cat and Fiddle really, (i.e. very good but also very busy) The notorioty of the area means that you need to be on high alert for police pretty much continuously.
