We spent the night in Barreme and took this route to Jausiers. Nice. Out of Montclar, as you approach St Vincent you are treated to some fantastics vistas looking out onto Le Sauze du Lac. Then donĀ“t forget to look back on your way to Barcelonnette -- great views back toward the lake. But the real excitement starts when you get to Jausiers and turn south on C4 to Col de Bonette...
Another great road in the area, there are so many. This one runs from a road high above the shores of Lac de Serre Poncon (a bright blue lake) down to Digne which is half way up the Route Napoleon. This road has a lot of corners and you can really enjoy it without having to do silly speeds, its a real mix with open corners you can see round, blind right handers around rock faces, the lot. Near the top it climbs up over the hills then plunges down in to a valley with some superb bends. With virtually no traffic its a great road but be warned, one of our gang brought his bike and himself to a very abrupt halt against a craggy rock face. Three ribs and a scapula broken but hte bike was repairable with gaffer tape. Two days later he was on his ZX12 and rode the 800 miles home, respect or what.
